India's rich heritage of Arts, Textiles and Handicrafts is well known. Equally well known is the fact that the custodians of our heritage - artisans, weavers, craftspeople etc - find it increasingly difficult to earn fair wages due to lack of access to markets, resources, customer trends and preferences. Consequently, the younger generation is less inclined towards traditional vocations, leading precious heritage, weaves and crafts to fade away. Sonata supports organizations that work towards improving the livelihoods of rural artisans and weavers, and by extension, help keep traditional crafts and skills alive.
